And she certainly showed that tonight against Serena and I think that&#x27;s hugely important.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;She&#x27;s got the game. She&#x27;s got the physicality. She could have played another two sets, Ajla. She just took enough out of her physically to win.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Asked what was possible for Tomljanovic at Flushing Meadows, Masur said that with the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/tennis\/us-open-2022-serena-williams-advances-to-third-round-with-shock-win\/3851ba5e-52a4-419d-b528-ebbb5bbbcd02\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"early exits of top seeds Anett Kontaveit\">early exits of top seeds Anett Kontaveit<\/a>, Maria Sakkari and Paula Badosa, all bets are off.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&#x27;ve always seen Ajla as a player that wants to dominate and want to dictate. But tonight, you know, she had to defend for a good portion of the time &#8211; she was very willing to do it, she did it very well, and she&#x27;s got the athleticism to do it,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The women&#x27;s game is pretty wide open, isn&#x27;t it? Upsets &#8211; they&#x27;re not few and far between, it&#x27;s happening all the time. So, if she&#x27;s in the right mindset and she doesn&#x27;t suffer a bit of a letdown after beating Serena, anything&#x27;s possible.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Former British tennis player turned commentator Mark Petchey added that Tomljanovic looked in career-best form against the 23-time major champion.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6311777216112\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2022\/09\/451700\/030922usopnetom.png\" alt=\"Tomjlanovic\u00a0hushes\u00a0US\u00a0Open\u00a0crowd,\u00a0takes\u00a0first\u00a0set\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cl7l5ivms000g0jo1lxuhuh7z\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;That&#x27;s got to be the best performance of Ajla&#x27;s career given the occasion playing Serena and knowing potentially it was going to be Serena&#x27;s last match,&quot; he told Grand Slam Daily.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The quality of tennis that Ajla produced out there was probably the best I&#x27;ve ever seen her produce.
