The Springboks<\/a> have ended a nine year drought Down Under, defeating the Wallabies<\/a> 24-8 at the all-new Allianz Stadium.<\/p>\n

The visitors outclassed Dave Rennie's<\/a> men, keeping them from scoring a try until the 79th minute on the way to a bonus point win.<\/p>\n

The encounter was capped off with a fiery exchange between the two sides after Makazole Mapimpi scored the final Springboks try of the match.<\/p>\n

After Mapimpi was memorably denied by Marika Koroibete last weekend<\/a>, the Springboks winger made his feelings known as he shoved his Wallabies opposite who lay on the ground.<\/p>\n

The two teams then converged on the sidelines before exchanging pleasantries.<\/p>\n

After a bit of pushing and shoving around the in-goal area, Mapimpi was dished a yellow card for instigating the kerfuffle.10:37\n<\/p>\n

"That is terrifying," Sean Maloney said in commentary for Stan Sport, as wild-eyed Eben Etzebeth went face-to-face with Allan Alaalatoa.<\/p>\n

"Allan Alaalatoa, up to it, and said. 'You want some?'"<\/p>\n

By and large, it was a messy encounter on both sides of the equation.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies conceded 13 penalties while the Springboks copped 14.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies looked unlikely to threaten the try line until Pete Samu finally crossed and ultimately didn't do enough to hold out the Springboks.<\/p>\n

For captain James Slipper, it was a disappointing performance after last weekend's 25-17 barnburner.<\/p>\n

"It was a disappointing way to start the game," said Slipper.<\/p>\n

"I felt like that first half we played down our end of the field and put ourselves under pressure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Another week of poor discipline. We spoke a lot about that this week, and that's probably the most disappointing thing \u2013 putting ourselves under pressure like that.<\/p>\n

\"Springboks<\/p>\n

"It just felt like we didn't play much rugby. We didn't really fire a shot. We knew what sort of game it would be in these conditions, a big set piece, big kicking game. They were just dropping bombs on us all night and we just got stuck down our end.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next up is a date with the All Blacks in Melbourne on September 15.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Obviously it's a big game for us. It's the Bledisloe," Slipper said.<\/p>\n

"We really wanted to build a bit of momentum. That's probably why I'm so gutted right now. Lost a game for our country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It doesn't get any easier. We're going into the Bledisloe now, it's going to be two tough games coming up. We'll pick ourselves up. We've got a good group here and we'll rip in."<\/p>\n

The visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute courtesy of Damian de Allende who found a hole in the Wallabies defence off the back of a quick tap-and-go.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies were left reeling early on.<\/p>\n

Matt Philip was sent to the bin early while Hunter Paisami wandered off for a concussion check and did not return.<\/p>\n

A penalty brought the Wallabies within five points, but that was as close as they would get all night.<\/p>\n

\"Springboks<\/p>\n

Teenage debutant Canan Moodie caught a high ball and sprinted towards to try line for his first in the 39th minute making it 17-3 at the break.<\/p>\n

Poster boy Taniela Tupou, who battled injury before the Rugby Championship even got underway, never made the field as he battled a calf issue.<\/p>\n

After a relatively quiet second half, Mapimpi crossed the line to make it 24-3 before setting off a commotion down the far end of the field.<\/p>\n

After Saturday's, every team has two wins and two losses.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies sit second behind the All Blacks, who have an extra bonus point.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Pumas and Springboks go head-to-head on September 18.<\/p>\n
