Israel Folau could once again be playing rugby union following reports multiple teams are chasing the controversial cross-code star.<\/p>\n

Folau, who was involved in a nine-month highly-publicised exit saga with Rugby Australia, made his long-awaited return to rugby league last year when the Catalans Dragons picked up the 31-year-old. He then re-signed with the club<\/a> on a one-year deal in July last year.<\/p>\n

Despite being under contract for the 2021 Super League season, several French rugby union clubs are eyeing the former Wallaby according to French rugby publication Midi Olympique.<\/p>\n

It's understood Toulon and Bayonne are both interested in bringing Folau back to the 15-man code once he finishes up at the Dragons.<\/p>\n

Folau was also rumoured to have turned down an offer from French rugby club Montpellier Herault, who approached the three-time John Eales medallist last year shortly before he re-signed with his current Super League club.<\/p>\n

Folau scored 37 tries in 73 Tests for the Wallabies before he was dumped by Rugby Australia after he took to social media in a post<\/a>, saying that "hell awaits" gay people.<\/p>\n

Folau last year said he was looking forward to another season in the English rugby league competition.<\/p>\n

"Me and my family are very excited to stay on at the club for season 2021. We're very grateful for the opportunity that (president) Bernard Guasch and the Dragons have given me," Folau said at the time.<\/p>\n

"I'm looking forward to working hard and achieving great success on the field with my teammates and this great club," he added.<\/p>\n
