Marnus Labuschagne's prolific run since returning to Australia's set-up as a substitute for Steve Smith in the 2019 Ashes has continued, with the right-hander notching the fifth Test century of his career.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Queenslander brought up his ton with a front-foot punch through cover off the bowling of Indian quick Mohammed Siraj, running four as the ball stopped just short of the boundary.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne was dropped twice on his way to his century at The Gabba, but his hundred salvaged what fast become a horror first innings for Australia after openers David Warner and Marcus Harris were dismissed before lunch.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne was summoned to the crease when Australia were 1-4 and fast became the anchor the host's were so desperately craving, particularly after Steve Smith was skittled for 36 after starting strongly.<\/p>\n

Legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne praised Labuschagne's young but highly successful Test career.<\/p>\n

"He's turned into a wonderful player. Five hundreds and 10 50s in his 18 Test matches is just outstanding stuff.<\/p>\n

"He just seems to be getting better and better.<\/p>\n

"We talk about the 'big three' with (Virat) Kohli, Smith and (Kane) Williamson but this man is not far behind in the small amount of Test matches he has played.<\/p>\n
