Aussie tennis outcast Bernard Tomic has reignited hopes of reviving his career<\/a>, moving within two wins of an Australian Open berth.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old remains on track to feature in the 2021 Australian Open, cruising through the qualifying tournament with just two more matches standing between him and a yet another chance of home soil glory.<\/p>\n

Having defeated Jozef Kovalik 6-4 3-6 6-4, the Aussie will next face 19-year-old West Australian hopeful Tristan Schoolkate, who defeated Gudio Andredozzi 7-6 (7-1) 6-4.<\/p>\n

Tomic has tumbled down the world rankings to No. 228, but perhaps another shot at a decent run at Melbourne Park could be the shot in the arm his career has been begging for.<\/p>\n

In 2016, Tomic peaked at world number 17, but has suffered a spate of on and off the field dramas since.<\/p>\n

Recently he made an 'Only Fans' debut \u2014 a subscription based social media platform, mainly used for X-rated content\u2014 with his ex-reality TV girlfriend, Vanessa Sierra.<\/p>\n

Last year he fell in the first round of Australian open qualifying, and in the final round in 2018.<\/p>\n

He is a part of a 20-strong contingent of Aussies in a bid to qualify for the delayed Australian Open.<\/p>\n

Tomic's recent success in this year's qualifiers come as the tournament was hit with its first positive COVID-19 case.<\/p>\n
