Formula One has terminated its contract with the Russian Grand Prix following the country\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, saying tonight that Russia \u201cwill not have a race\u201d in the future.<\/p>\n

F1 already cancelled this year's race, which had been scheduled to be held in Sochi on Sept. 25. But following further discussions this week, F1 went a step further and ended a contract which ran until 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cFormula 1 can confirm it has terminated its contract with the Russian Grand Prix,\u201d F1 said in a statement. \u201cRussia will not have a race in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel and several other drivers said last week they would not have raced in Russia even if F1 had decided to go there.<\/p>\n

It comes after Motorsport UK banned teams, competitors and officials who hold a Russian or Belarusian licence from entering events<\/a>, including the British Grand Prix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The sanctions, in reaction to Russia's invasion of Ukraine<\/a>, mean Haas Formula 1<\/a> driver Nikita Mazepin<\/a> is unable to compete at Silverstone.<\/p>\n
