The path appears clear for world No.2 Novak Djokovic<\/a> to defend his title at Roland-Garros<\/a>, after the French government announced it would relax its vaccination requirements this month.<\/p>\n

From March 14, visitors will no longer be required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination to enter indoor establishments.<\/p>\n

The New York Times quotes a spokesperson for the tournament as saying Roland-Garros will follow whatever government regulations are in effect when the year's second Grand Slam gets underway on May 22.<\/p>\n

Djokovic was deported from Melbourne on the eve of the Australian Open, after Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said the Serbian's anti-vaccination stance risked causing civil unrest.<\/p>\n

Last month Djokovic told the BBC he's not an anti-vaxxer<\/a>, but won't be getting vaccinated.<\/p>\n

"I've always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body," he said.<\/p>\n

"The principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else."<\/p>\n

Djokovic is also likely to be free to play Wimbledon in the middle of the year, with Britain already relaxing its entry requirements.<\/p>\n

He's still prevented from travelling to the United States however, which means he'll miss tournaments<\/a> in Indian Wells and Miami, both of which carry big rankings points, and unless the situation changes before August, he won't be able to play the US Open either.<\/p>\n

"As of today, no. I can't go \u2013 can't enter United States," he said recently.<\/p>\n

"As of today I'm not able to play. But let's see what happens. I mean, maybe things change in the next few weeks."<\/p>\n

Earlier this week it was confirmed Djokovic had split with long-time coach Marian Vajda<\/a>, who has been by his side for all 20 of his Grand Slam titles.<\/p>\n
