Aston Martin has provided the first look at the new generation of F1<\/a> cars with the reveal of the AMR22.<\/p>\n

Unlike Haas and Red Bull<\/a> who showcased a render of the 2022 show model at their earlier team launches, Aston Martin surprised many by uncovering its genuine car for this season.<\/p>\n

At first glance, some new features immediately stood out marking the F1's new era into aerodynamics. The new rules aim to make the field more competitive.<\/p>\n

The final race of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi ended in controversy when Max Verstappen<\/a> was handed an advantage over Lewis Hamilton<\/a> in the final moments, to ensure the championship-decider did not finish under the conditions of a safety car<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Aston Martin team launch, driver Sebastian Vettel<\/a> said F1 needs to focus on racing rather than entertainment.<\/p>\n

"The main thing is that we focus on the sport and not so much on the show," he said.<\/p>\n

"There are two interests clashing, the sport and the show, and I don't care so much about the show."<\/p>\n

Debate continues around whether Australian race director Michael Masi<\/a> should be disciplined for his role in the dramatic season finale.<\/p>\n

The FIA previously launched an inquiry into the events of Abu Dhabi, the findings of which will be presented to the F1 teams and F1 president Stefano Domenicali next week before they are made public just before the new season gets underway.<\/p>\n

However, four-time F1 champion Vettel defended Masi's actions, sympathising with the pressures of the top job.<\/p>\n

"It is not the easiest to be in the shoes of the referee or Michael's shoes, but I think he has done a great job, especially filling in after Charlie passed away so suddenly.<\/p>\n

"He has been very focused and determined to do a good job. I don't know his future, but I hope he sticks around because overall he did a really good job. There is a lot of controversy over the last race but there shouldn't be. Overall he has done a really good job."<\/p>\n
