Caitlin Bassett<\/a> has admitted she is "disappointed" after constant injuries forced her retirement after a stellar netball career spanning over a decade. <\/p>\n

Bassett was a mainstay in the Diamonds<\/a>' line-up since making her debut back in 2008, having made 102 appearances. She retires a two-time World Cup winner and a Commonwealth Games gold medallist.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old is one of just five Diamonds players to have logged over 100 tests and retires having converted a remarkable 2863 goals at 90 per cent shooting throughout her international career.<\/p>\n

"Netball has been such a huge part of my life and I still pinch myself looking back at the incredible experiences I've had both on and off the court," Bassett said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\"Caitlin<\/p>\n

"While it isn't the fairy tale ending I wanted and I am disappointed, the support I have received over the last 18 months, in particular, has been amazing.<\/p>\n

"This sport has given me so much and I still plan on being involved. I want to give back and help others navigate the challenges I have overcome and continue to grow the game."<\/p>\n

Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich also paid tribute to the retiring netball legend.<\/p>\n

"Throughout Caitlin's incredible career, she has inspired many young Australians both on and off the court and she is as a champion of our game," she said.<\/p>\n

"Caitlin's accuracy under extreme pressure, her ability to position under the most physical pressure and her passion for the game made her a major asset to the Diamonds and a threat to all opposition teams."<\/p>\n
