Manly fans have noticed a familiar figure mowing lawns in the heart of Sea Eagles<\/a> territory over the summer.<\/p>\n

Suspended hooker Manase Fainu<\/a> has been quietly going around to elderly residents' homes around Manly, offering to mow their lawns for free.<\/p>\n

"He has been going up and down the street, without any fuss, just asking if he can help out by mowing our lawns," a local Manly fan told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"It's a lovely gesture."<\/p>\n

Fainu's manager Mario Tartak confirmed that his young client has been cutting plenty of grass over the summer.<\/p>\n

"He wanted to do something for the locals, particularly the elderly in his community," Tartak said.<\/p>\n

"Manase came up with this idea because he has elderly relatives himself and has seen them struggling to mow the lawns. It can be a hard job for old people.<\/p>\n

"It is a lovely gesture and shows what kind of kid he really is."<\/p>\n

Fainu has been suspended indefinitely by the NRL under its 'no fault' stand-down policy<\/a> after he was charged with stabbing a man at a Mormon church dance in October, 2019.<\/p>\n

He has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial in July.<\/p>\n

"It's been tough for him but he is handling it as well as he can and this grass cutting is one example of what he is doing to keep busy," Tartak said.<\/p>\n

"He is still allowed to train with Manly, which is a big help and he told me recently 'I am okay because I have good people around me'."<\/p>\n

Manly showed how highly they rate Fainu by signing him for a further two seasons last year despite the charges against him and the fact he won't be able to play until July at the earliest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
