The Sydney Thunder have returned to the top of the BBL standings with a clinical 39 run win over the Hobart Hurricanes in Perth on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Thunder's 5-167 was solid, not imposing, but a true team effort in the field meant the Hurricanes never truly threated to chase it down.<\/p>\n

Making victory all the more sweet was the fact that the Thunder leapfrogged city rivals the Sydney Sixers at the top of the table.<\/p>\n

The Thunder (6-2) are one point clear of the Sixers (5-3) and an all-Sydney final appears a real possibility.<\/p>\n

"The Thunder have been brilliant all year," Brad Haddin said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

"I enjoy the brand of cricket they're playing and another reason why they're doing so well to me is the squad they've got.<\/p>\n

"They've left Ollie Davies out, which we thought was a big mistake but (Alex) Ross (44* from 33) came back in and played an outstanding role tonight.<\/p>\n

"Arjun Nair (1-19 from 3) came in for (Daniel) Sams so they've got great depth in their squad and that's a credit to their coach Shane Bond.<\/p>\n

"The spinners did an outstanding job, (Nathan) McAndrew (2-25 from 4), but it was all off the back of some good batting from (Ben) Cutting (31* from 14) and Ross at the end.<\/p>\n

Teenaged Thunder leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha (2-29 from 4) continues to show he is destined for higher honours and now has the most wickets in the competition.<\/p>\n
