{"id":19075,"date":"2021-01-07T01:26:30","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T02:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=19075"},"modified":"2021-01-07T03:02:16","modified_gmt":"2021-01-07T03:02:16","slug":"kyrgios-barty-headline-new-open-lead-up-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=19075","title":{"rendered":"Kyrgios, Barty headline new Open lead-up events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Australia&#x27;s revised summer of tennis is continuing to take shape with Tennis Australia today unveiling a blockbuster line-up of lead-up tournaments in the week prior to <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/tennis\/australian-open-locked-into-february-8-start-according-to-atp-tour\/2c243cd4-c028-4f31-939e-750ecae34d73\" title=\"the Australian Open\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Australian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following on from the announcement of <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/tennis\/novak-djokovic-and-rafael-nadal-lead-field-for-2021-atp-cup\/9151fb82-03fd-4a93-a033-6e8a5075d51d\" title=\"the ATP Cup field\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the ATP Cup field<\/a>, it has now been revealed that there will be several other tournaments featuring some of the sport&#x27;s biggest names in the week starting on January 31.<\/p>\n<p>More than $2.2 million in prizemoney will go on the line with two WTA 500 and two ATP 250 tournaments filling the lead-up to the opening grand slam of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6210458685001\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2020\/11\/327111\/pickerImage.jpg\" alt=\"Barty ends 2020 as world no.1\" data-vms-id=\"ref:ckhmfav56001o0gpd8lgi3k4i\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#x27;s world No.1 Ashleigh Barty will return to the court after a long layoff to headline one of two women&#x27;s tournaments that will split the top 32 ranked players in the world &#8211; with 16 to play in the Gippsland Trophy and 16 to play in the Yarra Valley Classic.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios will headline the field to play at Melbourne Park in the Murray River Open, which will also feature three-time grand slam champion Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov, Felix Auger-Aliassime and former US Open champion Marin Cilic.<\/p>\n<p>The other men&#x27;s tournament, called the Great Ocean Road Open, will feature the likes of David Goffin, Karen Khachanov, Kevin Anderson, John Isner and Aussie Jordan Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Having 49 of the world&#x27;s top 50 women, and an outstanding men&#x27;s field commit for the Melbourne Summer Series is a huge bonus for fans and promises quality matches for players leading into the Australian Open,&quot; Tennis Australia Head of Major Events Cameron Pearson said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There&#x27;s no doubt this will be an historic week of tennis, and is the biggest-ever AO lead-in week we have seen in Australia.
