Australia and India joined forces before the start of Friday's ODI<\/a> to take part in a barefoot circle on the SCG.<\/p>\n

The two nations united an hour before the match started to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, while also taking a stand against racism.<\/p>\n

"The barefoot circle is a cricket centric way for players and teams to take a moment prior to matches to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, connect to each other as opponents and pay respect to the country," Cricket Australia says.<\/p>\n

"This is done barefoot as a way to connect to country, but also a moment to reflect that we are all common ground, we are all human beings and we need to stand strong with each other, for each other."<\/p>\n

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis said it was important for the squad to show their respects to Aboriginal culture and their place in Australian history.<\/p>\n

"We're really proud to be Australian," Stoinis told Fox Cricket. <\/em><\/p>\n

"It's really important that we make a stand and we understand how important the Aboriginal culture is to Australia and to Australian history.<\/p>\n

"It was really good by India to show that respect as well. It means a lot.<\/p>\n

"It's the start of a long process, and I think education is the start of it as well."<\/p>\n

The Australian squad came under earlier this year<\/a> after West Indies great Michael Holding expressed his concern with Australia and England's decision not to take a knee during their recent series.<\/a><\/p>\n
