to lead the way at the 2023 Cricket World Cup but says there is no need for them to show their selection hand this far out.<\/p>\n<p>Former Test leg-spinner Kerry O&#x27;Keeffe started an interesting discussion in commentary for Fox Sports in questioning whether David Warner (34-years-old), Aaron Finch (34) and Steve Smith (31) would still form the top three for Australia at the global showpiece tournament in India in three years time.<\/p>\n<p>All three were outstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/cricket\/australia-vs-india-live-scores-match-1-one-day-international-results-news\/971935f1-b55f-4708-ade3-5bf2ea693bec#post=e83cba95-e795-48da-82d0-b6421c23f18c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"in the opening ODI against India\">in the opening ODI against India<\/a> with Finch (114) and Smith (105) striking spectacular hundreds and Warner (69) laying an ideal platform.<\/p>\n<p>But O&#x27;Keeffe pondered whether the players should signal their World Cup intentions this far out to help selectors with their succession planning.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;You take it season by season,&quot; the other side of that is that you&#x27;re telling people &#x27;just pick me for the next two or three years.&#x27;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Well form and fitness come and go so what you want in a cricket side is what Australia have at the moment \u2013 competition.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;And that&#x27;s why our side is getting better and better all the time, the competition is there.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There&#x27;s no doubt those three are class players and we&#x27;d all love to see them at the next World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;But it&#x27;s up to them to maintain their form and fitness and it&#x27;s up to all the younger guys coming through to keep the pressure on.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Whacking 6-374 was a terrific way for Australia to launch its home summer after a frustrating and taxing 2020.<\/p>\n<p>There were positives everywhere you looked but <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/cricket\/australia-vs-india-steve-smith-smashes-memorable-odi-century\/d1894308-7f8e-42f5-9d0d-74643965948a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Smith&#x27;s masterclass stood out in Taylor&#x27;s eyes.\">Smith&#x27;s masterclass stood out in Taylor&#x27;s eyes.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6212630609001\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2020\/11\/329370\/pickerImage.jpg\" alt=\"Smith smashes a ton\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cki002ofq000a0hr0p3bzyq16\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Despite a sedate start, the batting genius took just 62 balls to reach triple figures, the third fastest Australian to reach the milestone in ODIs.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Aussies were terrific, it couldn&#x27;t have worked out better,&quot; Taylor said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Winning the toss at the SCG was an advantage but they played really well.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;You could see the IPL guys \u2013 Finch, Warner and Smith \u2013 all looked in great form.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Very impressed with Steve Smith&#x27;s innings.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;When you come in at 1\/156, that&#x27;s not always easy but he played beautifully early on and then just exploded.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6212634936001\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2020\/11\/329386\/pickerImage.jpg\" alt=\"Zampa shells King Kohli\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cki0220y8000g0hryyawx8fag\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;A hundred off 60 balls, just what you need at No 3 on the back of Warner and Finch.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It shows what a class player at three can do.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Often if you get 150 from your opening stand, you think &#x27;oh, I&#x27;ve got to put a hitter in next.&#x27;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;But Steve Smith shows that you don&#x27;t necessarily need to be an out and out hitter.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If you&#x27;re a class player like he is you can maneuver the ball to parts of the ground that others can&#x27;t, and that&#x27;s what Steve Smith did.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6212622380001\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2020\/11\/329365\/pickerImage.jpg\" alt=\"&#x27;Big Show&#x27; goes bang, bang\" data-vms-id=\"ref:ckhzz7dik000j0gp66do3d175\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The terrific platform set by the top three allowed Australia&#x27;s brains trust to promote its big hitters up the order.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Stoinis came in at No 4 but missed out with a golden duck, bringing Glenn Maxwell to the crease.<\/p>\n<p>Fireworks ensued, belting 45 off just 19 balls including back to back reverse sweeps for four and six against a befuddled Yuzvendra Chahal.<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell, at 32, is another of Australia&#x27;s battle hardened batsmen.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6212602879001\" src=\"https:\/\/vms-network-images-prod.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com\/2020\/11\/329357\/pickerImage.jpg\" alt=\"Warner sent packing by Kohli\" data-vms-id=\"ref:ckhzvffs6000i0gpb028mkxat\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;I like the fact they moved Maxwell to five,&quot;
