In the race to uncover Australia's next great batter, cricket legend Ian\u00a0<\/strong>Chappell<\/a> says a big question mark remains over Victorian Will Pucovski<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The promising youngster has suffered multiple concussions throughout his career, disrupting his chances of Ashes selection this summer due to lingering symptoms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When discussing Australia's "lost generation" of batters on Wide World of Sports' Outside The Rope<\/em><\/a>, Chappell raised questions over Pucovski's potential for future Test selection.<\/p>\n

"Ten times hit in the head, how does he get hit in the head 10 times?" he asked.<\/p>\n

"If I'm a selector and I'm thinking this guy has been concussed 10 times, am I doing the right thing by picking him and putting him in that environment?<\/p>\n

"He's got to play Shield cricket and not get hit. Everyone knows that he can make runs in Shield cricket, that's not really proving anything.<\/p>\n

"I think Pucovski has got the ability, but my big question mark is how did he get hit in the head 10 times?"<\/p>\n

Former Test captain Mark Taylor<\/a> agreed with the issue raised by Chappell and shared concern over Pucovski's return to full fitness.<\/p>\n

"Will Pucovski is the light, he is the young god, the 23-year-old that Australia is looking for to be our next Ricky Pointing, the next guy who plays 10 to 15 years of Test cricket, and I think the questions that Ian is proposing are valid," Taylor said.<\/p>\n

"To get 10 concussions – they're not all cricket related, but majority of them are – is of concern because it's obviously a worry for his health going forward, but also how well he plays the short ball.<\/p>\n

"As Ian suggested we need more than one Pucovski, we should to have three or four guys – at least one, maybe two, from the bigger states in each Shield side – that are belting the door down to say, 'I'm the next man in', and at the moment we don't have that."<\/p>\n

Due to a lack of Sheffield Shield cricket over the coming months, Pucovski has effectively been ruled out for the Test summer.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the year, Pucovski made 62 during his much-anticipated debut for Australia against India.<\/p>\n
