Robert Whittaker<\/a> will get his long-awaited shot at regaining his middleweight title in early 2022, as a fight with Israel Adesanya has been locked in.<\/p>\n

In a massive weekend of sport, Whittaker will square off with the Kiwi-Nigerian champ in Houston, the night before the NFL's Super Bowl in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Whittaker has rattled off three consecutive wins against other contenders in the division to find his way back to the main event, against the only man who has defeated him since his middleweight debut in 2014.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old clinched the interim title in 2017 in an absolute war against Yoel Romero, and was later upgraded to undisputed champ when Georges St-Pierre vacated the championship.<\/p>\n

He beat Romero again in 2018 (the Cuban failed to make weight so it wasn't for the title), before his first official title defence ended with Adesanya beating him via a second-round knockout in late 2019.<\/p>\n

Adesanya has been absolutely dominant in the division, his only loss as a professional coming when he moved up a weight class to test himself against light heavyweight champ, Jan B\u0142achowicz.<\/p>\n

Whittaker has traditionally been respectful towards all his opponents, but there's no love lost between this pair.<\/p>\n

"That other c–t, what's his name? Rob Whittaker, Bobby Knuckles," Adesanya said after his win over Marvin Vettori, when he asked what was next<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fellow Australian Casey O'Neill will also feature at 271, after a stellar rookie year where she won all three of her fights in the UFC via stoppage.<\/p>\n

She'll face Roxanne Modafferi in a battle of ranked flyweight contenders.<\/p>\n
