Fox Sports commentator Mark Howard summed it up pretty well as Joe Burns' horror season continued at The Gabba on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The axed Australian Test opener got straight back on the horse for the Brisbane Heat in their BBL clash with the defending champion Sydney Sixers.<\/p>\n

Burns has a strong record in the competition and perhaps this was an opportunity to slog his way back into form.<\/p>\n

Instead it was another tough watch as Burns struggled to score one of seven balls before holing out at third man off the bowling of Jackson Bird.<\/p>\n

Another long, lonely walk back to the pavilion.<\/p>\n

"The shot was on, just didn't get enough bat on it," former Australia star Andrew Symonds noted.<\/p>\n

"You wonder what's going through the poor man's head.<\/p>\n

"Not what we would have wished for him tonight."<\/p>\n

Burns played the first two Tests against India before selectors lost patience.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 31-year-old averaged just 10.41 across 13 first class innings this summer.<\/p>\n

"He's been through a horrendous season," ex-England international Isa Guha said.<\/p>\n

"He got that 50 in the first Test match and thought OK, he's back.<\/p>\n

"But here again, 1 from 7, getting into odd positions, you really feel for him at the moment.<\/p>\n

"Hopefully he'll be able to get himself out of this patch."<\/p>\n

Despite another Burns failure, the Heat were able to record an upset four wicket win over the Sixers.<\/p>\n

Chasing the Sixers' score of 8-165 to win, Lewis Gregory (31* off 16) and Jack Wildermuth (22* off 10) guided the hosts home after opener Max Bryant (40 off 23 had given the Heat a flying start.<\/p>\n
