John Wall has opened up on his gruelling recovery period after playing his first NBA game in 735 days following an Achilles injury.<\/p>\n
Wall endured a prolonged recovery period after multiple infections left him wondering whether he would need his foot amputated.<\/p>\n
A former No.1 pick of the Washington Wizards, Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets in the past off-season in exchange for All-Star guard Russell Westbrook.<\/p>\n
"It was tough," Wall told Stadium's Shams Charania prior to his 22-point, six-rebound, nine-assist performance in the Rockets' win over the Kings. <\/p>\n

"I went through three or four different infections. So it got to the point where, 'OK, are you going to have to cut your foot off or not?' That's where it got real with me. The basketball aspect was, like, going to be easy for me.<\/p>\n
"I feel like any rehab that comes in the first three or four months is the biggest key of anything, is how you attack it. So all of a sudden, I couldn't be a heavyweight. I had to be lighter weight."<\/p>\n
Wall's injury troubles began when he underwent surgery to remove bone spurs on his left heel in January 2019. <\/p>\n
He then required surgery after rupturing his left Achilles tendon when he slipped and fell inside his own home.<\/p>\n
