Australian superstar Sam Kerr<\/a> starred with a hat-trick performance as Chelsea hammered Birmingham City 5-0 during this morning's Women's Super League.<\/p>\n

Kerr's hat-trick was part of a stunning 26-minute cameo.<\/p>\n

She first found the net in the 18th minute, then the 29th and then nodded in a simple header for third in the 44th. She now has 23 goals to her name across the WSL calendar year.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old celebrated her third goal with a backflip.<\/p>\n

"The most important thing for us was to get the win, finish out a hard block – a lot of away games, and to keep a clean sheet was really nice," Kerr said after the match.<\/p>\n

"I'm really enjoying it. It shows in the way we're playing, we're all playing with a smile on our faces.<\/p>\n

"Scoring a lot of goals is always fun… it's an amazing club and an amazing team. I'm enjoying it a lot."<\/p>\n

She also confirmed her backflip celebration was requested by her teammates, who had been giving her "stick" for not celebrating enough.<\/p>\n

"I haven't [been practising the backflip]," she added.<\/p>\n

"The girls have been giving me stick, saying I don't celebrate that I hadn't done the backflip since however long ago.<\/p>\n

"The girls always give me stick that I haven't [backflipped] at Kingsmeadow, so I thought I would bring it out."<\/p>\n

The win puts Chelsea within one point of league leaders Arsenal, while Birmingham City remain winless.<\/p>\n

Chelsea will face Arsenal in the FA Women's Cup final next month.<\/p>\n
