The Sheffield Shield<\/a> match between New South Wales and Victoria that was due to begin in Sydney this morning has been postponed.<\/p>\n

Cricket Australia has confirmed Victorian bowler Will Sutherland<\/a> has returned an inconclusive COVID-19 test.<\/p>\n

"In the course of routine COVID-19 testing, Will Sutherland has returned a test result which requires further analysis," CA said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"The Victorian team is currently self-isolating while this analysis and investigation takes place.<\/p>\n

"Cricket Australia will provide further updates in due course."<\/p>\n

Both New South Wales and Victoria have had a disrupted start to the domestic season, unable to play other states due to travel restrictions.<\/p>\n

The two sides have already met twice in the last three weeks, once in Sydney and once in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

New South Wales and Victoria were set to play for the newly-named Hodge-Matthews Trophy, which honours state legends Brad Hodge and Greg Matthews.<\/p>\n

"Just because I played a couple of games, took a couple of catches, and scored a couple of runs, to have a name on a trophy representing New South Wales, it's one of the greatest honours that has been gifted upon me in my life," Matthews said.<\/p>\n

"To share this with Brad, someone who scored 992 runs in his first season as a young punk and an unbeaten 203 for Australia, it's special and incredibly humbling."<\/p>\n
