Canberra hooker Josh Hodgson<\/a> could find himself at a new NRL club within days, according to a report.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald says<\/a> the Wests Tigers<\/a> want the veteran rake to report for duty at Concord as early as Thursday, when the rest of the club's senior players will return to begin pre-season training.<\/p>\n

Hodgson, 32, is contracted to Canberra <\/a>for next year on a deal said to be worth $900,000.<\/p>\n

The Tigers are only prepared to pay half a million for him, meaning the Raiders would need to chip in the remaining $400,000 he's owed for the 2022 season.<\/p>\n

Hodgson has been one of the club's best players in recent years and was considered the second best rake in the NRL behind only Cameron Smith not too long ago.<\/p>\n

But his 2021 campaign went downhill with the form of the team<\/a>. Hodgson forfeited the club captaincy early in the season amid a reported blow-up with coach Ricky Stuart.<\/p>\n

He was also shifted from starting hooker to a bench role to accommodate younger No.9 Tom Starling.<\/p>\n

The Tigers have up-and-coming hookers Jacob Liddle and Jake Simpkin on their books but reportedly want to sign Hodgson on a two-year deal.<\/p>\n

The catch may be Starling, who is due to face court over an intimidation charge. It's the second incident Starling has been involved in and could have a bearing on his future.<\/p>\n
