An incredible display of T20 batting from Matthew Wade<\/a> has sent Australia into its second ever T20 World Cup final after a stunning run-chase against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Set 177 to win, Australia's hopes of winning looked just about done when it required 62 off the final five overs of the match.<\/p>\n

However, Wade combined with Marcus Stoinis for an unbeaten 81-run partnership off just 40 deliveries to send Australia through against a stunned Pakistan side.<\/p>\n

After successive big overs had helped Australia whittle down the target to a manageable 22 off the final two overs, Wade decided that he needed just one.<\/p>\n

Shaheen Afridi's first two deliveries of the over had gone for just two runs when he thought he had Wade dismissed, but Hasan Ali fumbled a regulation catch in the deep, giving Wade another life, one that Pakistan would regret.<\/p>\n

Wade finished the match with three consecutive sixes off arguably the premier T20 bowler in the world, using his pace on a pair of audacious ramp shots behind the keeper for six.<\/p>\n

Wade finished unbeaten on 41 off just 17 deliveries, while Stoinis finished unbeaten on 40 off 31 deliveries.<\/p>\n

Following his match-winning effort, Wade admitted that he didn't expect Afridi to give him much pace to work with.<\/p>\n

"Talking to Marcus Stoinis at the other end, we discussed what the bowlers were looking to do," he said.<\/p>\n

"[Shaheen] probably bowled more pace-on than I expected. When I got out there with Marcus, he was really confident we'd get them, even though I was a little unsure.<\/p>\n

"He found the boundaries early on, and I was happy to chip in at the end. It got down to two a ball, and from there it was if you got one in your arc, just try to hit it. Probably hasn't sunk in, I've just finished batting.<\/p>\n

"I'm just happy to contribute. I was out of the team for a while, just happy I got an opportunity again."<\/p>\n

It was a heart-breaking result for Pakistan, who similarly gave away a semi-final against the same opponent last time Australia made a T20 World Cup final back in 2010.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Shadab Khan thought he had bowled Pakistan through to the final with a terrific four-over spell which saw him pick up four wickets, including that of Australian opener David Warner.<\/p>\n

The win means Australia will now face New Zealand in the World Cup Final on Monday morning with a chance to claim the one ICC trophy that has eluded it thus far.<\/p>\n
