Wests Tigers<\/a> legend Benji Marshall<\/a> will return to the Concord club in an official capacity.<\/p>\n

Marshall has been announced as a Tigers ambassador, although will take a hands-on role with the junior pathways and development "providing positional expertise to Wests Tigers Cubs program as well as at junior representative training sessions for both Balmain and Western Suburbs SG Ball and Harold Matthews teams".<\/p>\n

The champion playmaker – who famously won the 2005 NRL grand final with the Tigers – retired from the NRL following South Sydney's loss to Penrith<\/a> in the premiership decider last month.<\/p>\n

He played 257 games for the club, and 346 NRL games in total across four different clubs.<\/p>\n

"I'm very excited to start this new role with Wests Tigers and to continue contributing to a club that I've always loved," Marshall said.<\/p>\n

"Wests Tigers and its fans have been part of my family for the majority of my career and I'm looking forward to continuing that journey together.<\/p>\n

"This is an exciting new role that allows me to contribute to the club in a number of ways both on and off the field. I'm looking forward to helping grow the next generation of Wests Tigers players coming through our pathways and playing a part in bringing further success to this great club."<\/p>\n

Marshall left the Tigers in somewhat bitter circumstances at the end of 2018 when he wasn't offered a new deal. It followed coach Michael Maguire dropping Marshall through the season.<\/p>\n

His return comes only two days after Tim Sheens returned to Concord.<\/p>\n

Sheens was the coach when Marshall threw his famous grand final flick pass in 2005, and now the pair will reunite.<\/p>\n
