Former Canberra <\/a>and Dragons <\/a>hooker Simon Woolford is set to join the coaching staff at Parramatta<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Woolford, highly regarded as a talent scout in both Australia and England, will coach the Eels' Flegg side and mentor the club's best young players.<\/p>\n

Several NRL clubs were keen to sign Woolford and his decision to join the Eels is a big boost for the club going into 2022.<\/p>\n

A veteran of over 250 NRL games as a player, Woolford has established a fine coaching record since retiring in 2008.<\/p>\n

He has coached Queanbeyan Blues in the Canberra competition, Huddersfield Giants in Super League and last year was assistant coach of Newcastle's NSW Cup side.<\/p>\n

With a massive junior league, the Eels have some of the best young talent in the NRL and Woolford will oversee their development and progression to the NRL.<\/p>\n

A veteran of 15 seasons in the NRL as a player – 13 with the Raiders and two with the Dragons – Woolford also represented NSW Country in 2002.<\/p>\n
