Australia's Remy Gardner has all but secured the Moto2<\/a> GP title after the penultimate race of the season.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old won the Algarve Grand Prix, but a second place finish to Raul Fernandez means the title race will go down to the final event of the schedule.<\/p>\n

Gardner took 25 points for winning the race and now has, in the MotoGP website's own words, "one hand and four fingers" on the world title.<\/p>\n

As they head to Valencia next weekend, Gardner has accumulated 305 points for the season to Fernandez's 282.<\/p>\n

That 23 point buffer means that Fernandez would have to win the final race of the season and Gardner finish lower than 13th.<\/p>\n

Excluding when he crashed in the USA, Gardner's worst finish of the year is seventh.<\/p>\n

"The weekend started off quite chaotic, but I was finally able to overcome the discomfort to my rib well to get this important victory," Gardner said afterwards.<\/p>\n

"I am happy with how everything turned out, and I hope that in Valencia we can acheive what we have been wanting for so long."<\/p>\n
