Supercars<\/a> insists all its competitors are compliant with COVID-19 vaccination requirements, despite reports a driver is under investigation.<\/p>\n

Motorsport.com reports that an unnamed driver is being investigated by New South Wales Health, with suggestions the vaccine exemption he used to enter NSW may not be valid.<\/p>\n

Drivers must either be fully vaccinated, or have a valid medical exemption.<\/p>\n

The driver reportedly entered NSW believing his exemption was valid, but health authorities have not yet given him the tick of approval.<\/p>\n

Supercars resumed racing last weekend following a break of more than three months, with the first of four consecutive race meetings at Sydney Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n

An investigation into the driver's status reportedly started late last week, but a decision was made to defer it until after the first race meeting was completed.<\/p>\n

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet announced this morning that freedoms for the unvaccinated would be pushed back<\/a> by a fortnight to December 15, a week after the season-ending Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n

It means if the driver's exemption is found to be invalid, he'd be in a race against time to be vaccinated ahead of the famous endurance race, while the implications for anyone deemed a close contact are not immediately clear. The driver in question could be kicked out of NSW, putting his participation in the remaining championship rounds in doubt.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Wide World of Sports<\/a>, Supercars said it was confident the driver in question would be cleared. <\/p>\n

"All competitors at Sydney Motorsport Park are compliant with COVID protocols," the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

NSW Health has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n
