Mount Maunganui:\u00a0New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson\u00a0has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC code of conduct during a fielding incident on the third day of the first test against Pakistan at Bay Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 25-year-old\u00a0was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and\/or dangerous manner during an international match.<\/p>\n

One demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Jamieson, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.<\/p>\n

When a player gathers four or more demerit points within a two-year period, they are converted into suspension points which could lead to a ban.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in the 75th over of Pakistan\u2019s first innings on Monday, when Jamieson, after fielding the ball in his follow-through, threw it in the direction of Faheem Ashraf at high speed when the batsman was away from the stumps but within the crease and not intending to take a run.<\/p>\n

Jamieson admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe and ratified by the ICC Cricket Operations department as per the Covid-19 interim playing regulations.<\/p>\n

The charges were leveled by on-field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Wayne Knights, third umpire Chris Brown, and fourth official Shaun Haig.<\/p>\n

It must be noted here that Pakistan are suffering at 71-3 while chasing 373 runs in the opening Test against New Zealand. Azhar Ali (34*) and Fawad Alam (21*) will bat for Pakistan tomorrow with needing 302 runs to win.<\/p>\n
