English captain Eoin Morgan<\/a> has said that nothing is out of the question when it comes to the T20 World Cup<\/a> – even if it means dropping himself from the team.<\/p>\n

"It's always something I've said, that is always an option," he said today.<\/p>\n

"I'm not going to stand in the way of the team winning the World Cup. Obviously, I've been short on runs, my captaincy has been pretty good as it goes", Morgan said.<\/p>\n

In 2021, Morgan has made 499 runs across 35 innings in all T20 competitions, at an average of 16.63. He's yet to make a single half-century.<\/p>\n

"Not being a bowler and being a bit older and not contributing as much in the field, I've loved the role of captain," Morgan said.<\/p>\n

"You get two bites at the cherry impacting the game. As regards my batting, I wouldn't be standing here if I hadn't come out of every bad run of form that I'd ever had.<\/p>\n

"It's just something you deal with, it's the nature of the job, so I am going to continue to take those risks if the team needs me to take them. If they don't, I won't."<\/p>\n

England's campaign gets underway against the West Indies at 1am (ADST) on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

It will be the second match of the Super 12 phase after Australia plays South Africa at 9pm on Saturday.'<\/p>\n

It's also a re-match of the 2016 final, which England lost.<\/p>\n

"It would be unbelievably special if we manage to [win the tournament]," Morgan said.<\/p>\n

"The group of players that we've had together for the last five or six years, alongside some new talented and young guys coming through that have really made a name for themselves, makes the composition of the squad extremely strong."<\/p>\n
