Wayne Bennett<\/a> has revealed he's "99 per cent sure" a deal to coach the NRL's newest team, the Dolphins<\/a>, will get done.<\/p>\n

Nine News revealed Bennett is closing in on a three-year deal believed to be worth more than $2 million, to coach the new franchise that will enter the NRL competition in 2023.<\/p>\n

The departing South Sydney coach was spotted in Redcliffe today, where he revealed he held a meeting with club officials.<\/p>\n

Bennett's impending move to the Dolphins was revealed earlier this week<\/a>, but the club at the time insisted no deal had been signed.<\/p>\n

\"Why<\/p>\n

"Long, good meeting. Really pleased with it," Bennett said.<\/p>\n

"We haven't finalised anything yet, it's heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n

"There's a couple of things we have to sort out, but there's nothing major.<\/p>\n

"I'm 99 per cent sure we will get it all worked out."<\/p>\n

Bennett, 71, is one of the most successful coaches in rugby league history, having won seven first-grade premierships and coached the Broncos, Dragons, Knights, and Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n

The NRL on Monday confirmed the Dolphins had won the race to enter the NRL in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins beat bids from the Firehawks and Jets to become the fourth Queensland team in the competition.<\/p>\n
