Delisted Adelaide<\/a> defender Daniel Talia has suffered a devastating blow in his bid to prolong his AFL<\/a> career, suffering an injury setback that's forfeited any chance of playing in 2022.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old was delisted by Adelaide at the end of the 2021 season, bringing to end a 200-game stint with the Crows in which he won two All-Australian blazers and a club best and fairest.<\/p>\n

Richmond<\/a> considered recruiting Talia but instead signed defender Robbie Tarrant from North Melbourne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Talia's manager, Liam Pickering, has revealed he won't be fit to play in 2022 after suffering a setback in his fight against a foot injury.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"His family, they want to stay in Adelaide, he's got two young kids under two, his wife's an Adelaide girl," Pickering told SEN radio.<\/p>\n

"He did have a chat with Richmond and I think the Tigers felt the same thing. They felt it was going to be hard to get him over, anyway.<\/p>\n

"They also had concerns about his foot, which they've got every right to have, when we spoke to them straight after the season."<\/p>\n

Talia didn't play a single AFL match in 2021 as he battled his foot injury.<\/p>\n

"It's still not much good," Pickering said.<\/p>\n

"He's going to have to go back and have some surgery.<\/p>\n

"Talia won't be playing next year.<\/p>\n

"The foot has kept him out for a year and he's been rehabbing it and trying to get it right, but it's just not coming good. He's had another setback with it.<\/p>\n

"He'll have to speak to his surgeon and see where it's at.<\/p>\n

"It's just not getting any better."<\/p>\n
