Tom Trbojevic<\/a> has capped one of the best individual seasons ever put together with yet another individual award, crowned the Rugby League Players' Association's Players Champion.<\/p>\n

Trbojevic was handed the prestigious gong by four-time winner Johnathan Thurston during Nine's coverage of the NRL grand final<\/a> and admitted "it means a lot to me".<\/p>\n

The Manly megastar scooped the pool of individual honours in 2021, with the Players' Champion award sitting alongside his Dally M Medal<\/a> and the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the series in NSW's State of Origin win.<\/p>\n

It's a stunning array of accolades for the 25-year-old, particularly after he missed the opening four rounds of the season with a torn hamstring, an injury that has dogged the early stages of his career.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Thurston, Trbojevic said he had never felt as physically strong as he had after making his comeback in Round 5 and thanked the Manly conditioning staff for helping him go to the next level.<\/p>\n

"The team back at Manly have been awesome for me and I've been feeling really confident out there and just going out there and playing footy, which is what it's all about," Trbojevic said.<\/p>\n

He said it was "pretty special" to be honoured by his peers.<\/p>\n

"To be the Players' Champion, voted by the players, it means a lot to me. I know you're a four-time winner. It's a special award and it's something I'm very proud of," Trbojevic said.<\/p>\n

Trbojevic was also named the Players' Champion Fullback of the Year, as part of the players' Dream Team, and the RLPA and NRL Academic Player of the Year.<\/p>\n

"I would like to congratulate Tom on being voted by his peers as the game's best for 2021," RLPA Clint Newton said. <\/p>\n

"Despite the challenges of 2021, this year's finalists all had amazing seasons, but Tom's season reached new and extraordinary heights and will definitely go down as one of the most brilliant individual performances in rugby league history."<\/p>\n
