The Penrith Panthers are into the 2021 NRL grand final,<\/a> however star halfback Nathan Cleary will face scrutiny from the match review committee.<\/p>\n

Penrith defeated Melbourne Storm 10-6<\/a> in an exhausting arm-wrestle at Suncorp Stadium in their preliminary final.<\/p>\n

But in the first half the heart and soul of the team was put on report for a hit on Melbourne's Kenny Bromwich.<\/p>\n

Carrying 20 per cent loading for a previous incident in round 22, the Panthers no.7 will be eager to see the match review committee report tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n

When coach Ivan Cleary was questioned post-game if he was concerned about his son being on report, he was succinct.<\/p>\n

"No," he said with a wry smile, before being asked by a reporter if the halfback would be "right to go".<\/p>\n

"I think so," the coach said.<\/p>\n

Rugby league great Andrew Johns argued that Cleary was unlucky to even be cited.<\/p>\n

"Not even a penalty," Johns said on Nine at half-time.<\/p>\n

"It's a love tap. He picks him up and puts him down gently on his back. It won't be a problem there whatsoever."<\/p>\n

\"NRL<\/p>\n

Johns believes Cleary should be fine to play in the season finale against the Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n

"I know he's got some loading from round 22 for a late hit, which also was a bit of a love tap, but there's nothing to worry about [here] for Nathan Cleary at all," he said.<\/p>\n

Cleary was instrumental in an absorbing contest in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

"Defensively he's been strong. He's got that crook shoulder and they said they were going to test him out," Johns said.<\/p>\n

"Everyone else is losing their mind, it's up to Nathan to keep that cool head."<\/p>\n
