Karachi: Two-time winners of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Islamabad United has announced\u00a0that the already expired contract of Misbah ul Haq as its Head Coach will not be renewed for the upcoming sixth season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The decision was made due to Misbah\u2019s commitment with the National side and the new conflict of interest rules of the PCB.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old Misbah\u00a0was appointed as the Head Coach of Islamabad United in December 2019 as they finished last on the points table in PSL season five. United won three matches and lost six.<\/p>\n

#ISLU<\/a> will not be renewing @captainmisbahpk<\/a>\u2019s already expired head coach contract given his commitments with the National team. We thank him for his great contribution to ISLU. We wish him the very best of luck with the \"??\" National Team.<\/p>\n

“Misbah has been an integral part of Islamabad United since being picked in the draft of PSL Season 1 in December 2015,”\u00a0said team owner Ali Naqvi in a statement.<\/p>\n

“ISLU will miss his experience, guidance and wisdom but we respect the constraints of PCB\u2019s new rules and his commitments to the National side. We wish him the best in his professional as well as personal life,” he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Misbah wants to focus on the Pakistan cricket team as they are scheduled to play two back to back T20 World Cups.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>I obviously have an attachment to Islamabad United and the relationships that we have built over the past five years. But with back to back World T20s coming up I want to focus on the PSL from a purely neutral perspective. For anyone involved in Pakistan Cricket their national commitments should always be the priority, and for that I believe I will have to sacrifice my franchise commitments,” Misbah said.<\/p>\n

Misbah in a tweet, thanked the franchise owners, management and players for four wonderful seasons and wished the best of luck for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

It must be noted that Misbah was the captain of United from 2016-2018, leading them to two PSL titles in these years.<\/p>\n
