The time has nearly arrived for the fourth edition of the Laver Cup<\/a>, which will be exclusive to Stan Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taking place in Boston, Massachusetts, Swedish legend Bjorn Borg will captain and lead Team Europe's push for their fourth consecutive title against Team World, who are captained by American great John McEnroe.<\/p>\n

The much-anticipated event was originally scheduled for September last year but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The format is simple: Each team is made up of six players, who either fall into the European side or Team World.<\/p>\n

For Australians, fans at home will get to see Nick Kyrgios<\/a>, who is set to make his fourth appearance at the Laver Cup.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios' history at the tournament is well documented. The 26-year-old Australian is now a Team World veteran and is no stranger to facing Europe's biggest names, having famously fallen just short of defeating Roger Federer in the competition's inaugural event in 2017.<\/p>\n

Leading into this year's event, Kyrgios spoke of that famous match, in which the Australian was unable to capitalise on a match point before the 20-time Grand Slam winner came out victorious.<\/p>\n

"To someone like Roger, who has so many accolades, he has nothing to prove in this sport, and he's taking a match that seriously during the Laver Cup's first year," Kyrgios recalled.<\/p>\n

"Having a match point in that match, and not taking it, was gruelling. It still hurts me to this day. If I'd won that match, would've it come down to deciding doubles with me and Jack?"<\/p>\n

When is the Laver Cup?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Laver Cup is scheduled to get underway on Friday, September 24 (Saturday morning AEST).<\/p>\n

Stan Sport<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is the only place to watch every match of the Laver Cup. Every game, set and match will be live and exclusive, ad-free.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The event will be played out at the TD Garden, a multi-purpose arena in Boston, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

Who is representing Team Europe and Team World?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Team Europe<\/strong> will have six of the world's top 10 ranked players.<\/p>\n

The team will feature: US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, world No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Alexander Zverev, Russian world No.5 Andrey Rublev, Italian world No.7 Matteo Berrettini and Norwegian world No.10 Casper Ruud.<\/p>\n

Team World<\/strong> will consist of: American world No.22 John Isner and No.19 Reilly Opelka, Australian Nick Kyrgios, Argentine world No.15 Diego Schwartzman, Canadian world No.12 Denis Shapovalov and his countryman, world No.11 Felix Auger-Aliassime.<\/p>\n

The sport's infamous big three of Rafael Nadal<\/strong>, Roger Federer<\/strong> and Novak Djokovic<\/strong> won't be at this year's Laver Cup. <\/p>\n

Federer recently underwent a third knee surgery<\/a>, while Nadal is unavailable due to a foot injury<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Djokovic is understood to be taking time off after having competed in all this year's Grand Slams, as well as the Olympics. <\/p>\n

What is the prize money?<\/h2>\n

The winning team receives $2.07 million, with each winning member taking home $345,00.<\/p>\n

The loser will share the remaining $1.036 million, which will be about $172,000 each.<\/p>\n

Event format<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The event is played over three days, with both day and night sessions. Four matches are played each day – three singles and one doubles.<\/p>\n

Both singles and doubles are best of three sets with ad scoring. In the event of split sets, the third set is a 10-point match tiebreaker.<\/p>\n

Each player competes in at least one singles match during the first two days.<\/p>\n

No player can play singles more than twice during the three days.<\/p>\n

At least four of the six players must play doubles. No doubles combination is played more than once, unless for the Decider on Day 3, if points are 12:12.<\/p>\n

The winning team must reach 13 points.<\/p>\n

Does the Laver Cup give ATP points?<\/h2>\n

No, the tournament does not count towards a player's points total in the ATP Tour year.<\/p>\n
