Wests Tigers<\/a> are poised to sack coach Michael Maguire as early as this evening.<\/p>\n

Sydney Morning Herald journalist Michael Chammas broke the news on Nine's 4pm news bulletin.<\/p>\n

"It looks like Michael Maguire's time at the Wests Tigers is coming to an end," Chammas said.<\/p>\n

"We can reveal the board has called a meeting this afternoon, they are meeting right now to determine whether Maguire will remain as coach. It looks as though his time at the club is up barring a last-minute change of heart.<\/p>\n

"Tigers officials are concerned the football team hasn't improved under Maguire's watch. There's also a belief internally that the club won't be able to attract the talent required to improve if Maguire stays.<\/p>\n

"The Tigers are looking to pay $750,000 as payout to part ways with Maguire later today."<\/p>\n

Chammas added that Panthers assistant coach Cameron Ciraldo would replace Maguire if he wants the job.<\/p>\n

The news comes a fortnight after the Tigers board launched an urgent review of the football department, undertaken by CEO Justin Pascoe and football chief Adam Hartigan.<\/p>\n

The Tigers won eight games and finished 13th this season. They have not played NRL finals in a decade.<\/p>\n
