Legendary sports commentator Dennis Cometti has announced he will call his final game this week and hang up the microphone after the AFL<\/a> grand final.<\/p>\n

Cometti, 72, will call the premiership decider between Western Bulldogs and Melbourne Demons<\/a> for Triple M Perth radio station.<\/p>\n

"This is it," Dennis told Triple M's Basil, Xav & Jenna<\/em> show on Monday.<\/p>\n

"It's finished\u2026 there's no turning back. There is emotion attached.<\/p>\n

"After it's finished and you're walking out the door, you'll think 'well, it's been good', you know. If it's a good game, all the better."<\/p>\n

Cometti played and coached Australian football before transitioning into the caller's box, where he has been for more than four decades.<\/p>\n

His voice became synonymous with AFL commentary, alongside fellow sports broadcasting icon Bruce McAvaney.<\/p>\n

In the 2019 Australia Day honours Cometti was inducted into the Order of Australia (OAM), and later this month he will be inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Cometti is also a member of the Sports Australia Hall of Fame and a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
