{"id":131629,"date":"2021-09-20T03:55:52","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T03:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=131629"},"modified":"2021-09-20T05:58:44","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T05:58:44","slug":"nfl-legends-weird-compliment-for-aussie-beast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=131629","title":{"rendered":"NFL legend&#039;s &#039;weird&#039; compliment for Aussie beast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In their first home game of the season, Philadelphia Eagles&#x27; Aussie left tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/news\/jordan-mailata\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Jordan Mailata\">Jordan Mailata<\/a> had a solid outing in a narrow 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.<\/p>\n<p>Mailata&#x27;s second start of the 2021 season saw him line up against formidable 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa. <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/news\/nfl-jordan-mailata-philadelphia-eagles-left-tackle-starts-contract-big-money-nickname\/c6f717ca-f466-4db6-b2f4-50f838fb5e6c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"After a sensational game last week\">After a sensational game last week<\/a> off the back of inking a four-year contract extension &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/news\/nfl-jordan-mailata-locks-in-philadelphia-eagles-contract-extension\/9d5e745a-3b35-44d7-a0da-2fd5a4cc3ef7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"reportedly worth up to an astounding $108.7 million with $55.5 million guaranteed,\">reportedly worth up to an astounding $108.7 million with $55.5 million guaranteed<\/a> &#8211; Mailata was welcomed onto Lincoln Field to a huge applause.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EliotShorrParks\/status\/1439634144103895040\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\" data-show-caption=\"false\" data-conversation=\"none\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/EliotShorrParks\/status\/1439634144103895040<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That buzz quickly faded though as the Eagles failed to take their opportunities on offence despite a promising start.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco&#x27;s stingy defence shut down quarterback Jalen Hurts a week after Philadelphia dominated Atlanta in an <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/news\/nfl-jordan-mailata-philadelphia-eagles-left-tackle-starts-contract-big-money-nickname\/c6f717ca-f466-4db6-b2f4-50f838fb5e6c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"impressive 32-6 win.\">impressive 32-6 win.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bosa, the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year, managed to out-muscle Mailata one-on-one to make a sack on Hurts and made another sack against blocking tight ends. It&#x27;s the family business.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Here comes Bosa against Mailata. He drives that inside shoulder with power. I thought I rushed better,&quot; Bosa said. &quot;I think every week I&#x27;ll get better. Never. Kid deserves a lot of credit!!! But so does Stout [offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland]. Brooks&#x27; injury pushed rookie offensive lineman Landon Dickerson into the right guard position for an unexpected NFL debut. Veteran O-lineman Jason Kelce said despite the Eagles stuttering output on offense, there were some &quot;bright spots&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Obviously it&#x27;s a tough situation to be thrown into. He didn&#x27;t get a whole training camp and everything, but I think Landon did a hell of a job,&quot; Kelce said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They&#x27;re a good defence and I know we&#x27;ve got a lot to improve on across the board. Little mistakes here and there. It&#x27;s tough to narrow down one thing. I think that it was really, really close.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We had some bright spots, but ultimately, it&#x27;s little mistakes, whether it&#x27;s penalties&#8230; I think it&#x27;s across the board little things that we can do to get better, myself included.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It&#x27;s never positive when you lose, but it&#x27;s all correctable.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"28f66608-e6c8-44c0-a5f3-0e6607a17152\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/28f66608-e6c8-44c0-a5f3-0e6607a17152\" alt=\" Philadelphia Eagles T Jordan Mailata (68) \" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dazzling in the season opener, Hurts again had the Eagles on the precipice of a touchdown early, when he dropped back in his own end zone, and hit wide receiver Quez Watkins in stride down the sideline for a 91-yard pass play. But five plays later &#8211; including a bit of attempted trickery on wideout Greg Ward&#x27;s pass attempt to Hurts &#8211; the Eagles finished with an empty possession.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth-longest pass play in franchise history, and the second-longest without a TD, ended without a score and would haunt the Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Hurts underthrew his receivers and underperformed in the second half, and injuries to Brooks and Graham hit the Eagles hard in the San Francisco 49ers&#x27; victory on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"9b0940c7-f58e-412f-be41-503c7568b9ad\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/9b0940c7-f58e-412f-be41-503c7568b9ad\" alt=\" Philadelphia Eagles T Jordan Mailata (68) \" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hurts completed just 12 of 23 passes for 190 yards. He ran for 82 yards, including a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We had a lot of opportunities we didn&#x27;t capitalise on,&quot; Hurts said post-game.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We have to be consistent in our execution. I have to be consistent in my execution as field general.
