The Ben Simmons trade saga<\/a> has reportedly taken another twist, with the Philadelphia 76ers backflipping on their plans to trade the Australian<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Philadelphia's Bucks County Courier Times reporter Tom Moore, the Sixers have abandoned plans to deal the 25-year-old, conceding they won't get back value in a trade for Simmons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They now expect him to play in the blue and white for the 2021\/22 season.<\/p>\n

The report stated the Sixers have scrapped offers centred around future draft picks and haven't been able to secure any of the names on its list of 5-10 replacements for the three-time All-Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even though Simmons is unwilling to attend preseason training camp or play another game for the Sixers in order to drive a trade, it's understood the 76ers are going to dig their heels in.<\/p>\n

The report says that once Simmons realises he won't be getting traded, he will have to show up. The Sixers plan to fine him for every day he doesn't attend training camp, preseason and games, which could be around $308k-a-day.<\/p>\n

"NBA source: The Sixers 'are expecting Ben Simmons to play in 2020-21. The expectation is they will," Moore wrote. "It's bumpy right now and the team expects it to get better.<\/p>\n

"The 76ers don't plan on making a deal that would drop them back in the standings and not get viable offers.<\/p>\n

"More from NBA source: 'Eventually he's going to show up. Sixers will go from there'. They apparently plan to fine Simmons if he doesn't attend 2021-22 camp, preseason and so on. <\/p>\n

"Don't want to trade for draft picks and try to convert to players. Can't get any of 5-10 NBA guys they like."<\/p>\n
