Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes<\/a> says the Power's 71-point elimination final humbling will have a lasting effect on the current playing group.<\/p>\n

Like many fans, Cornes admitted he was left stunned as a highly-favoured Port outfit were manhandled by the Bulldogs<\/a> from the opening bounce with the match virtually over by half-time. <\/p>\n

The loss in the penultimate match of the season is Port's second in consecutive years and its third under coach Ken Hinkley, after losing to Hawthorn in the 2014 prelim. <\/p>\n

Cornes was left seething in the aftermath of his beloved club's loss and suggested that the impacts of it could be felt for years to come.<\/p>\n

"Let's take a look at these first-quarter numbers, this is an embarrassment from a Port Adelaide side who has prided themselves on the contested footy," he told Nine's AFL Sunday Footy Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"Look at the clearances, the Inside 50s, the Western Bulldogs out-marked Port Adelaide in the forward line. I hope they force the players to sit through [the replay of the match]. <\/p>\n

"It really is a team that just wasn't prepared. I don't know what happened in the week off and the training that they went through. Were they a cocky group? Who would know? <\/p>\n

"All I know is that this will leave a lasting legacy on a lot of footballers' careers when they go back and watch the tape. <\/p>\n

"We could have show a million lowlights from Port Adelaide, but the legacy this will leave on a group, there were a lot of footballers who were buried at the Adelaide Oval last night."<\/p>\n
