"If that happens<\/a> that does surprise me quite a lot to be totally honest," Taylor, Cricket Australia director and Nine commentator, told Wide World of Sports Radio.<\/p>\n "When you employ a coach… the coach is a very important person… if that [report] is the case I'm very surprised because that's his number one role.<\/p>\n "Most of us in this country see the Test team as our number one cricketing team, the team we follow the closest.<\/p>\n "I would suspect that is the main part of Justin Langer's job, is to make sure we win the Ashes this summer."<\/p>\n The report follows ongoing speculation about Langer's place with the team amid player unrest. Langer is contracted until the middle of 2022 but last month meetings took place between CA and Tim Paine, Aaron Finch and Pat Cummins.<\/a><\/p>\n Taylor also said England should not be underestimated despite their struggles in the series against India.<\/p>\n "[England] are a little bit like Australia – their batting is their concern," Taylor said.<\/p>\n "They still rely heavily on Joe Root.
