Dragons<\/a> fans were forced to suffer more of the same on-field mediocrity and off-field scandal that has plagued the club for years in the start of the Anthony Griffin era<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The now infamous 'barbecue-gate' affair – which culminated in the Dragons<\/a> losing their final eight games, summed up a club in crisis with poor leadership and little fighting spirit.<\/p>\n

Fans were left scratching their heads at constant excuses – 'The De Belin affair has affected us'\u2026 'Dufty can't tackle'\u2026 'The barbecue incident cost us'\u2026 but ultimately the club finished the year with more questions than answers.<\/p>\n

To add to it all, they now want to cull NSW Origin forward and acting captain Tariq Sims<\/a> – one of the most respected players in the game – at a time when their culture and attitude is being questioned throughout the league.<\/p>\n

\"Dragons<\/p>\n

On the positive side, their pack will have more starch in 2022, with Jaydn Su'A, Francis Molo and George Burgess all fine additions But Griffin is gambling on a young spine with fullback Tyrell Sloane and Junior Amone alongside Ben Hunt in a move that could make or break his tenure at the club.<\/p>\n

Best player:<\/strong> In a season marred by a broken arm and broken leg, Ben Hunt still managed 15 games and played some of the best football of his career.<\/p>\n

Biggest disappointment:<\/strong> Corey Norman seemed an automatic selection every week – played 22 games and was poor in many of them – and has now been shown the door, Baffling.<\/p>\n

Key signing:<\/strong> If George Burgess can regain his South Sydney form after major hip surgery, he could make the Dragons pack among the most feared in the NRL.<\/p>\n

Gains:<\/strong> Jaydn Su'A (Rabbitohs), Francis Molo (Cowboys), Moses Mbye (Tigers), George Burgess (Wigan).<\/p>\n

Losses: <\/strong>Cameron McInnes (Sharks), Jordan Pereira (Broncos), Matt Dufty (Bulldogs), Paul Vaughan (Bulldogs), Kaide Ellis (Wigan), Brayden Wiliame (French rugby), Adam Clune (Newcastle).<\/p>\n
