Brisbane Lions<\/a> midfielder Mitch Robinson<\/a> has been forced to address a fake tweet that went viral regarding teammate Lachie Neale's reported desire to leave the club.<\/p>\n

After the Lions were bounced out of the finals<\/a> on Saturday night, multiple reports indicated that Neale wanted a move back to Western Australia<\/a> due to family reasons.<\/p>\n

The news was soon followed by what appeared to be a tweet from Robinson's Twitter account, where he was abusing Neale for wanting out, calling the 2020 Brownlow Medallist "selfish" among some other choice words.<\/p>\n

According to a Herald Sun report, Robinson was left "genuinely shaken up and shocked" by the fake post that did the rounds, and he immediately shut it down by tweeting "It's fake" on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Brisbane confirmed in a statement on Monday that club CEO Greg Swann, GM of Football Danny Daly, and senior coach Chris Fagan had met with the 28-year-old to discuss his future.<\/p>\n

Despite reports indicating that Neale wants out, he has not yet formally requested a trade away from Brisbane.<\/p>\n

"Neale and his wife Jules are expecting their first child and he has confirmed the couple are weighing up where they would like to raise their family," the statement read.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"He did not request a trade but has asked for some time to have further discussions with his wife and family.<\/p>\n

"The Lions will not make any further comment at this stage and we request that Lachie and Jules' privacy be respected."<\/p>\n
