Two drivers have been taken to hospital after a horror crash during qualifying for the W Series race in Belgium.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ayla Agren and Beitske Visser were both hospitalised, after six cars crashed at the Eau Rouge-Raidillon corners. Sarah Moore, Abbie Eaton, Belen Garcia and Fabienne Wohlwend were also involved in the accident.<\/p>\n

Agren has already been discharged from hospital, while Visser has tweeted that she is "sore, but luckily I have no fractures."<\/p>\n

The W Series is a women-only series that runs as a support race to the Formula One championship.<\/p>\n

Today's accident is the third serious crash at that part of the circuit in two years. In 2019, Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert was killed<\/a>, and Juan-Manuel Correa seriously injured<\/a> after an accident, while last month Jack Aitken was seriously injured in a crash during the Spa 24-hour race.<\/p>\n

Alpine academy driver Guanyu Zhou, who is currently second in the Formula 2 championship, tweeted that modifications need to be made to the corner to improve safety.<\/p>\n

"When every race weekend we see a huge incident involved in the same corner, we can't just ignore it and move on," he wrote.<\/p>\n

Today's accident occurred when Moore and Eaton lost control, with Visser, Agren and Garcia then becoming involved.<\/p>\n

Wohlwent's car ended up in the middle of the track, upside down.<\/p>\n

"Today's qualifying was an eventful session to say the least," said W Series boss Dave Ryan.<\/p>\n

"Spa is always quite eventful and today certainly proved to be for us. It was very unfortunate to have the accident at the beginning of the session, but thankfully it seems that everyone is okay.<\/p>\n
