{"id":119664,"date":"2021-08-26T04:57:12","date_gmt":"2021-08-26T04:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=119664"},"modified":"2021-08-26T13:58:24","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T13:58:24","slug":"world-falls-in-love-with-inspirational-paralympian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=119664","title":{"rendered":"World falls in love with inspirational Paralympian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ibrahim Hamadtou lost both arms when he was hit by a train at the age of 10.<\/p>\n<p>Now the world has fallen in love with the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/olympics\/tokyo-paralympics-australia-lead-medal-tally-on-day-one\/ec8f00ff-6f0a-4b29-8350-ac74e8c4decd\" title=\"Egyptian Paralympian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Egyptian Paralympian<\/a>, whose determination knows no bounds.<\/p>\n<p>Hamadtou is competing in table tennis, a sport where he &#x27;holds&#x27; the paddle in his mouth, using his right foot to throw the ball in the air when he serves.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with CNN in 2014, he said the decision to use his mouth came after he tried a number of options, including balancing the paddle in his armpit.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"aa986eee-3cb9-45dd-bf0e-d5ebe8c3dd20\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/aa986eee-3cb9-45dd-bf0e-d5ebe8c3dd20\" alt=\"Ibrahim Hamadtou serves by throwing the ball up with his right foot.\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was quite difficult playing table tennis after the accident,&quot; Hamadtou told CNN. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;I had to practice hard for three consecutive years on a daily basis. At the beginning, people were amazed and surprised seeing me playing. They encouraged and supported me a lot and they were very proud of my willing, perseverance and determination.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old father of three is a two-time silver medallist at the African Championships, competing in the class 6 category, which is for athletes who can stand, but have severe impairments.<\/p>\n<p>Hamadtou starting playing three years after his accident, not accepting the absence of his arms as an excuse.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"7ddd60d6-7851-4757-8d88-1838dee69194\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/7ddd60d6-7851-4757-8d88-1838dee69194\" alt=\"Ibrahim Hamadtou.\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;In our village, we could only play, at that time, table tennis and soccer &#8212; that&#x27;s why I played both,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was logic to play soccer first due to my case; then I played table tennis as a challenge.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenGoodwinITV\/status\/1430605836385128453?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenGoodwinITV\/status\/1430605836385128453?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&quot;I believe that nothing is impossible, as long as you work hard.
