Michael Schumacher's<\/a> wife has made a rare public comment on his condition, in a trailer for a new documentary about the seven-time world champion.<\/p>\n

The Netflix production, Schumacher, will be released next month, and features interviews with the stricken champion's family and friends.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old hasn't been seen publicly since he fell and hit his head in a skiing accident in 2013, with his intensely private family releasing few details about his condition.<\/p>\n

The trailer opens with audio of Schumacher himself describing his dediction to the sport. <\/p>\n

"One hundred per cent perfection, I couldn't live with anything lower," he said.<\/p>\n

It continues with previously unseen home movies and comments from Schumacher's father, Rolf.<\/p>\n

Wife Corinna, who married Schumacher in 1995, then says the motorsport legend continues to fight, nearly eight years after his accident. <\/p>\n

"He still shows me how strong he is every day," she says.<\/p>\n

"I just felt that he is somebody special.<\/p>\n

"I think that he is simply very strong mentally. Extremely strong."<\/p>\n

It's the first real update the family has given on Schumacher's condition since a statement on his 50th birthday in 2019.<\/p>\n

"You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him," the statement said.<\/p>\n

"Please understand if we are following Michael's wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, as it has always been, in privacy."<\/p>\n

This week marks 30 years since Schumacher made his Formula One debut<\/a> in Belgium, while his son Mick<\/a> will make his first appearance as an F1 driver at the iconic circuit this weekend.<\/p>\n

Mick did a demonstration run at the circuit in 2017 in his father's 1994 championship-winning car, and said this week he's looking forward to racing at the famous track.<\/p>\n

"Driving my dad's Benetton was a great experience," said Schumacher. "Now, I'm driving in Formula 1 myself and that's 30 years after my dad made his debut. It's a really special moment for me and my family, so very happy to go there and put my mark on that special track too.<\/p>\n

"It's definitely one of the most challenging tracks \u2013 it's super long, there's a lot of undulation in it, it's very historical and definitely one of the most special weekends that we have on the calendar, so I'm really looking forward to going back."<\/p>\n
