Carlton coach David Teague has hinted his career at the club will come to an end early next week after the Blues ended their season with a 14-point loss at the hands of GWS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The loss to the Giants marks the end of the season for the Blues, who for the eighth-straight season now will miss out on finals football.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Teague, who is contracted until the end of 2022, will likely finish up at the Blues next week which follows on from the club's recent external review into the footy department.<\/a><\/p>\n

Teague's future as the head coach had remained clouded<\/a> ever since that review.<\/p>\n

"I am guessing it's going to be Monday," Teague said after the match when asked about his future.<\/p>\n

"I had a chat this week, and they said after the game they will get together, the board and have a look at that."<\/p>\n

Teague said he's confident the side, which he took over in June of 2019, will be strong in years to come, but also hinted he won't be the one to continue leading the way next season.<\/p>\n

"I absolutely believe in this group. I think they will be a very good side. I think they have got the ability, if they get all the players back, get some cohesion together to be right up there in the top four next year," Teague added. <\/p>\n

"It's a fact that we have been hit hard by injuries (but) I am really proud of the way they are going about it, of the way we are shaping our culture, there's been a shift, and they are the things that I am going to leave really proud of.<\/p>\n

"I understand the club is going to make a decision (and) let's be honest, it doesn't look as though it is going to go in my favour, but in terms of what I have done and what I have been able to control I know who I am, and I know why I have done it and I am really happy with that."<\/p>\n

The Carlton coach also admitted the club needs to "improve" after word of the club's external review and his clouded coaching future made it to the media.<\/p>\n

"I love this club. When the review gets announced through the media that's not high performance. I am going to call it out, this footy club have got some areas to improve and I think even in the last three weeks I have seen an improvement at a level I haven't seen in the past," Teague said.<\/p>\n

"It hurt when people said I had lost relationships with the players. That one probably dug a little deep because it's not true. <\/p>\n

"Certain players don't love what I say all the time but that's what a high-performance environment is. Guys getting challenged are not always going to love the feedback."<\/p>\n
