Carlton<\/a> coach David Teague<\/a> has taken a swipe at the Blues board amid the external review into the footy department, saying he's lacked support from powerbrokers and declaring the club has not "nailed the process".<\/p>\n

The external review was launched in June as a result of another dismal Carlton season, in which the Blues are now languishing in 13th on the ladder and have extended their finals drought to eight years.<\/p>\n

Teague is contracted until the end of 2022 but there is a significant possibility that the review will seal his fate at the completion of this season.<\/p>\n

Teague today expressed his disappointment in the Carlton board in a media conference, as he responded to questions about his future.<\/p>\n

"I understand the review process," Teague told reporters.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"At times, there has been some media and some journalism that's just not true. Would I have loved some people from within the club to come out and back me up? Absolutely, I'm not going to lie.<\/p>\n

"Have we nailed the process? I don't think so. I think that's clear, and I think everyone would put their hand up to that."<\/p>\n

Teague outlined where Carlton must improve, beginning in Saturday's clash with GWS<\/a> at Docklands Stadium as the Blues farewell the legendary Eddie Betts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"In terms of the why, the desire is to get Carlton back to being a really good footy team. I understand that and I desperately want that," Teague said.<\/p>\n

"I want to be part of that, and I believe I can be part of that.<\/p>\n

"There's a group of players down there that will have success. They are going to have success.<\/p>\n

"We're doing some things right, but we've got to get better.<\/p>\n

"There's lot of areas we've got to get better. Our stoppage work is just not good enough at the moment, our defence hasn't been consistent enough.<\/p>\n

"We've shown periods where we've nailed our game style, but too often we haven't been able to nail it consistently."<\/p>\n

Former St Kilda<\/a> and Fremantle<\/a> coach Ross Lyon<\/a> has this week publicly declared on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> that he's open to taking on Carlton's top gig.<\/p>\n

Teague was blunt when prodded on Lyon's interest.<\/p>\n

"Well, I'm contracted for 2022. I'm planning for that," Teague said.<\/p>\n

"I still believe I'm the person to go forward. Unless he knows something that I don't know, then I'm going to continue to plan to be the coach next year."<\/p>\n
