Records tumbled as the high-flying Rabbitohs<\/a> thumped the Titans<\/a> in a 36-6 victory<\/a> on the Gold Coast this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell<\/a> became the first man since Warriors<\/a> icon Manu Vatuvei<\/a> to score a try in seven consecutive games against the Titans, when he crossed in the fifth minute.<\/p>\n

Wayne Bennett's men again rattled the record books when halfback Adam Reynolds<\/a> converted a Braidon Burns try in the 45th minute, becoming the first team since 1908 to register 30 points in eight games in succession.<\/p>\n

And when a piece of Mitchell magic set up a second Josh Mansour<\/a> try 75 minutes into the match, South Sydney broke their record for most points in a season.<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs also bagged a 10th win in succession for the first time since 1989, when George Piggins was coach and Mario Fenech captain.<\/p>\n

Mitchell's try came off a scrum, with the NSW State of Origin<\/a> centre bursting onto a Damien Cook<\/a> ball as the Rabbitohs hit the Titans with a deadly change of angle.<\/p>\n

Records continued to be shaken when Reynolds converted the second of Burns' tries.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old's double capped a dream week, in which he had already got engaged to his partner on the Sunshine Coast's Coolangatta Beach.<\/p>\n

"Kicking South Sydney to history," said commentator Matt Russell as Reynolds slotted the conversion.<\/p>\n

"Hard to believe but there it is. A rare piece of history for the Rabbitohs of 2021."<\/p>\n

In what was then potentially a good omen for the Rabbitohs, the record they broke to rack up the most points in a season in their long a rich history had been set in 2014, the year in which they won their most recent premiership.<\/p>\n

Michael Maguire<\/a>'s men had romped to 687 points in the 2014 season, shining in attack as they famously broke a 43-year premiership drought.<\/p>\n

"They did it in second gear, 24-0 at half-time, their second half, they came out, scored a try," said former NSW Blues hooker Michael Ennis.<\/p>\n

"They missed a couple of chances today, Souths, but (Cody) Walker<\/a> and Mitchell, Reynolds, Cook \u2013 they did it with ease."<\/p>\n
