For just the second time this season the Wests Tigers have notched back-to-back wins to keep their finals hopes alive following a 24-16 win over the Cowboys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Needing a win to sit just two points outside of the top eight, the Tigers opened tonight's match with back-to-back tries to race out to a comfortable lead.<\/p>\n

While the Cowboys responded by cutting the deficit to six points at half-time, the Tigers answered back with consecutive tries and from there they had a large enough cushion to hang on despite a late fightback from North Queensland.<\/p>\n

The Tigers managed to hold their nerve after their 18-point lead was reduced to eight points following two tries in the final seven minutes and a sin bin to playmaker Luke Brooks.<\/p>\n

The win for the Concord-based club bumps them up to 12th on the ladder, with their finals hopes well and truly still alive as the competition enters its final three rounds after this weekend.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, today's loss for the Cowboys continues their grim losing streak, which extends to nine.<\/p>\n

"It was incredible that finish. The Tigers just held on, there is still hope," NRL great Michael Ennis told Fox League after the match.<\/p>\n

"It was a really poor performance from the Cowboys."<\/p>\n
