Geelong<\/a>'s premiership hopes have been dealt a major blow with dual All-Australian defender Tom Stewart reportedly set to miss the remainder of the season with his foot injury.<\/p>\n

After initially being named in Chris Scott<\/a>'s side to face St Kilda, Stewart was a late withdrawal after suffering an injury at training on Thursday.<\/p>\n

According to a report from The Age<\/a>, Geelong fears Stewart has suffered the dreaded Lisfranc injury in his foot, which usually requires a lengthy recovery period that would see him miss his team's finals campaign.<\/p>\n

Stewart is not the only member of Geelong's back six to be hit with an injury blow, with halfback Zach Tuohy expected to be sidelined until the finals series with a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

The blows to both Stewart and Tuohy means Scott's side is fighting injuries on all fronts heading into a finals campaign where they are one of the favourites to take out the premiership.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Jeremy Cameron missed six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Round 16, while fellow forward Gryan Miers has a fractured leg and midfielder Mitch Duncan is recovering from a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon said he expected the Cats to "struggle" in Stewart's absence, with Nick Riewoldt also concerned about the impact of the injury on other injured Cats stars.<\/p>\n

"I think the Cats would struggle if [Stewart is out for the season]," he told Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

"It also puts Mitch Duncan under pressure to get back," Riewoldt added. "He is racing the clock."<\/p>\n
